In life and on Twitter (which is life-like but on Twitter everyone seems to be on their best behavior) there are those who concentrate on the day-to-day, their businesses, their lives...and there are those who have their eyes on the prize. That's @iconic88 - looking outward, upward, giving thanks, redirecting energies, offering a positive spin, and making me think twice--maybe even three times.

We all know there is trouble in the world. The only rational response to this is to try harder, to be better and to spread more kindness and goodness in hopes that the human condition will be lifted up...one person at a time or in the case of @iconic88, one tweet at a time.3Luncheshttp://www.3lunches.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6151993123071458340.post-72135142995614128272009-09-02T14:17:35.643+10:002009-09-02T14:17:35.643+10:00Great to meet you Iggy. I moved to the Philippines from Sydney in 2006, launching my newest company www.desiremesh.com - we are here to innovate and create rather than do BPO. I believe that whatever a man can dream he can do. Let us enable. I live and work here and its good to see other people doing rather than just talking about it. Her local friends and family who had her emergency spare set of keys were all interstate for the holidays. With no keys, mobile or wallet she was at a loss of how to connect with any of the people in her life who could help her out. She walked to the local libray, logged on to Facebook and updated her profile to "Mary" is locked out of the house, can somebody come pick me up from the library? Within minutes her problem was solved. Useful eh?
Much more disturbing is what I read in this mornings's papers about Facebooks plan to sell our connections and profile info to direct marketers. I wonder if this will be their undoing and make way for one of the other social networking sites to rise to the top of the pile?Sally Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18057188117217627563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6151993123071458340.post-42583948590976177122008-11-25T23:56:00.000+11:002008-11-25T23:56:00.000+11:00Nice post, and all I can say is that my experience...Nice post, and all I can say is that my experiences mirror yours, particularly when it comes to e.g. meeting up with folks at conferences. I've also found lately that someone twittering something becomes someone "saying something" - so as a small example, on arriving in the office today my friend and I were discussing how cold it was, and I said "yes, xxx just said that too" (the unspoken words being, "on Twitter"). Online interactions are increasingly becoming inline-d into offline life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6151993123071458340.post-38713059077345910012008-11-25T18:03:00.000+11:002008-11-25T18:03:00.000+11:00This is a very interesting observation on how one ...This is a very interesting observation on how one operates within the "online" world.

I would like to build on to this concept of "inline" which is due to time limitations that we all experience from our busy schedules.

I see the "inline" idea as a way of jumping the queue. Very similar to what we would do if a person did not wish to wait in line to purchase movies tickets. You simply make the purchase which would be considered inline with your time commitments.

A Cinema operator in Australia does this so customers do not have to meet face to face and can see a movie with their printed movie tickets.

In this scenario therefore applying the concept of "inline" is showing how you choose to conduct particular transactions for entertainment purposes.
KIRASu voz emergentehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05299745252344866102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6151993123071458340.post-74347565772407396212008-10-20T11:40:00.000+11:002008-10-20T11:40:00.000+11:00Ian, I also keep business cards in a file. Like you, I use these as reminders or prompts of meetings I've had and for recall purposes.

What I'm saying is analagous to photo prints - I still keep all the old ones, the ones I choose to print or am given in a photo album. I appreciate their look and feel and sentimental value too and flip through them on occasion. However, most of the 'treasured' photos have been digitised and catalogued on Facebook or Flickr.

Like a digital business address book, digitised photos are easily accessible, searchable and actionable.Iggy Pintadohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12347381047917494622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6151993123071458340.post-19431600981640226772008-10-20T10:17:00.000+11:002008-10-20T10:17:00.000+11:00Even though I am an avid LinkedIn user, I still li...Even though I am an avid LinkedIn user, I still like to keep people's business cards in an old school rolodex. There's something about the tacticle feel and the self expression in the design that helps with recall. I like occasionally flipping through and reconnecting with someone I haven't spoken to in a while.
